CLS is seeking a CNC Machinist for our client in Marrero, La! This individual must be able to operate and maintain a CNC lathe, under some supervision, to produce a good quality product in a timely fashion as to satisfy demand. Contract to hire opportunity for those who put their best feet forward!  


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Learns how to start machine to allow it to go through the start up/warm up procedure.

• Learns to load computerized machine control media as needed.

• Learns to select, align, and secure chuck jaws, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine.

• Learns set up and operation skills to maintain accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

• Learns to place work piece in machine and remove finished work piece from machine and place it in appropriate temporary storage location.

• Learns to use the hand tools needed to perform the job. i.e., micrometers and calipers.

• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

• Watches and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media or replaces tools as required.

• Learns machine cleaning and minor maintenance and calls supervisor as needed for major maintenance and repair.

• Confers with supervisors, engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.

• Is aware of and helps to maintain a safe work area and conditions and keeps the safety coordinator aware of any unsafe situations.

• Other duties as assigned.



• Must have completed 90 day trial period and be able to setup and operate machine alone.


Desired Skills/Experience Technical Requirements:

• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blue prints.

• Able to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

• Able to compute rate, ratio and percent.

• Able to communicate effectively one to one and before groups of employees of organization.

• Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

• Able to manage and work with people in a harmonious way to accomplish the tasks assigned to this job.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.




·     Ability to work flexible and or extended hours and weekends (normal schedule: 50 hrs)

·     Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

·     Stable work history, preferably in an industrial environment

·     Reliable transportation
