CLS is searching for a Recruitment & HR Specialist for our client in Metairie, LA. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with a great company! 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; supports company purpose, mission and vision in daily operations
  • Contributes to the development of the department strategic and operating planning and meets assigned target dates and budget goals
  • Helps ensure that department quality, service, and productivity standards are met
  • Works with the VP of HR and Administration to promote, maintain, and reinforce the corporate culture; understands and maintains the corporate culture in all human resource documents, communications, and processes
  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective advertising and recruiting methods and strategies based on the open position, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Directs the job posting and advertisement process, and assists as needed
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager during the hiring process
  • Responsible for set up, coordination, and attendance at college job fairs and recruiting sessions.; develops relationships with relevant colleges and universities for employment purposes
  • Responsible for content information on the company employment website – maintaining up to date, relevant, and appealing information to attract new employees
  • Develops and maintains the new employee orientation process
  • Prepares the annual recruitment budget and assists in the Administration Department budget

Secondary Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Performs facilitation and aids in design of organizational development program, including training, succession planning and organizational design projects and programs. 
  • Serves as a member of the company Business Continuity Team 
  • Provides backup to the Sr. Total Rewards Specialist when necessary 
  • Participates in giving daily task instruction to the Human Resources Coordinator 
  • Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned 

Compliance/Employee Relations: 

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies; consults with employment attorney when necessary 
  • Educates employees with regard to HR policies 
  • Responds to questions and works with management on policies, procedures, eligibility, and termination issues 
  • Responsible for maintaining the Employee Handbook, including development and updates of policies, annual handbook review, and the tri-annual employee acknowledgment process 
  • In conjunction with the VP of HR and Administration, handles employee relations counseling; assists department manager with employee disciplinary actions and performance counseling; conducts mediations when appropriate 
  • In conjunction with dept VP, accepts, investigates, and resolves employee grievances 
  • Assists VP and General Counsel with the Corporate Ethics Program; works with General Counsel on the program document and training of employee population and Board and Committee members 
  • Ensures the consistent application of organization policies 
  • Acts as an integral member of the HR team, providing input on HR strategy 
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information 

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in interviewing, hiring, and related recruitment functions
  • Advanced knowledge in employment law and application
  • Ability to work effectively with external recruiters
  • Experience with digital recruiting
  • Previous experience using a human resource software management (HRIS) system
  • Technology aptitude: Effective use of Microsoft Office, ability to learn, utilize and gain productivity through technology, ability to assess and implement technology in the HR area
  • Strong customer focus and team orientation
  • Commitment to continuing industry and individual functional education
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential or sensitive company information
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently; ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information 

 Desired:

  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification in Human Resources
  • Exposure to payroll processing
  • Counseling and/or employee relations experience
  • Designations in Human Resources and/or Benefits Project management experience, or process implementation experience; Microsoft Project experience a plus
  • Insurance industry experience
